Client Overview

  • Client Name: Wilde Toast
  • Industry: Drinks Marketing and Research
  • Website URL: drinksight.io

Wilde Toast is a creative drinks marketing agency that helps drinks brands get chosen in bars, shops and venues. We have worked with them since 2024 and built their agency website too.

DrinkSight is Wilde Toast’s global research community of bartenders and hospitality professionals. Its panel shares what they see in bars and venues through surveys and interviews, giving drinks brands a clearer view of the on-trade.

Challenge

Wilde Toast needed a new website for DrinkSight, built from scratch. The panel spans more than 25 countries, so the site had to work in several languages from day one, not as an afterthought. It also had to recruit new panel members and get their sign-ups straight into the team’s CRM.

A sign-up form collects personal data, so security mattered as much as the front end. The aim was to keep the public surface small and the internal tooling out of reach.

Project Goals

  • Launch a fast, simple site that presents the panel, the research and current surveys.
  • Support five languages, with translated pages, legal copy and forms.
  • Let the team edit content in every language without a developer.
  • Send panel sign-ups directly into the CRM.
  • Reduce exposure by keeping internal systems off the public internet.

Process and Development

  1. Multilingual build: Built the site on Astro 7, Tailwind 4 and TypeScript, using Astro’s internationalisation routing for English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese, with hreflang tags so search engines serve the right version.
  2. Content editing: Set up Pages CMS with content organised by language, so the team edits pages, surveys and legal copy for each locale through a web interface.
  3. Sign-up integration: Built the Join form to post to a Bunny edge function, which validates each entry and creates a panel member record in the CRM. An automated browser test fills the form in more than one language and checks the record end to end.
  4. Security hardening: Put the CRM and internal tooling on a private Tailscale network, so they aren’t exposed to the public internet. The site reaches them through a single token-authenticated ingest route.
  5. Deployment: Set up GitHub Actions to build and deploy to Bunny CDN, with separate staging and production environments.

Solutions Delivered

  • A static Astro site in five languages, served from Bunny’s global edge network.
  • Pages CMS editing for pages, surveys and legal copy in every language.
  • A Join form that saves sign-ups straight to the CRM, with an opt-in newsletter checkbox.
  • Internal tools on a private network, reachable only by the team, with one narrow, authenticated route in from the website.
  • Strict security headers at the edge, including a Content Security Policy, HSTS and locked-down browser permissions.

Results

  • DrinkSight launched with a full site in five languages, ready to recruit panel members worldwide.
  • New sign-ups land in the CRM automatically, with no copying between systems.
  • The CRM never faces the open internet, which cuts the risk that comes with holding panel members’ details.
  • The team updates surveys and copy in every language on their own.

Conclusion

DrinkSight is a simple site on the surface, but the parts behind it were built with care. Multilingual content, a direct CRM connection and a private back end give the panel a solid base to grow from, without widening the attack surface as it does.
